ANDREA ELOVSON

Andrea is a writer, educator and mother of three teens. It was during her own children’s college application process that Andrea learned, firsthand, how stressful the essay writing could be- both on the applicants themselves and their parents. Since then, Andrea has made it her mission to transform the college essay writing experience into a fun journey of self-discovery, where students can discover and write about their unique talents and insights.

Andrea works with a wide range of students through workshops and private essay writing sessions. In addition to the Common Application Essay, Andrea assists young adults with supplemental, transfer and graduate/professional school essays. No matter who she is working with, Andrea utilizes an individualized, supportive and humorous approach that empowers students to follow their instincts and take creative risks.

For over thirty years, Andrea has written for television, print, digital media and academia. After working in broadcast television for 15 years, Andrea began writing articles and blogs on women and children’s health, parenting and education. Her work has appeared on a number of television shows including the Discovery Channel, CNN, ABC News, and in Parenting magazine, Main Line Today and The Huffington Post. She also tutors writing, reading and history for students in grades K-12.

Currently, Andrea manages the peer writing tutoring program at Penn State Abington’s Center for Student Achievement. Her role includes working individually with Penn State Abington students on research papers, creative writing assignments and college application essays. Andrea is also a mentor and success coach for PSUA students on academic warning.

Some of Andrea’s favorite activities and hobbies are oil painting, drawing, international travel, horseback riding, and watching the sunset. But by far, her favorite pastime is simply visiting and catching up with her three wonderful children.
